Position Overview
The Assistant Finance Officer will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of SIEM. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the ideal candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with financial regulations from key the stakeholders, and supporting budgeting and audit processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage petty cash and provide timely cash status reports
- Write payment vouchers for approval by the Finance Manager and CEO and ensure all the payment vouchers are supported by relevant documentation from the suppliers such as invoices, receipts and contracts.
- Maintain accurate financial records, including data entry, reconciliations, and ledger management in QuickBooks Online.
- Maintain organized financial filing systems and digital records, in compliance with internal financial policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparation and submitting PAYE, NSSF, WHT and VAT returns with the statutory authorities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial tracking of institute activities.
- Assist in the budgeting and proposal writing process by providing inputs required by the Finance Manager.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable as well as support financial reporting for donor-funded projects and grants.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
- Perform any other finance-related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in an NGO, educational institution, or social enterprise.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software, more importantly the online versions.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience working in the renewable energy or educational sector.
- Knowledge of donor reporting and grants management.
- Age not exceeding 28 years.
