Gender Inclusivity/ Empowering Women in Energy
Gender disparity has slowed innovation and progress in the industry. SENDEA Academy is bridging gender disparity in the renewable energy sector by empowering women through training, mentorship, internships, and business boot camps, having trained 350 female professionals (35% of 1,000 trainees) and supporting them in leadership roles and further studies, thereby promoting economic independence, clean energy access, and a sustainable future.

Youth Empowerment & Employment
Uganda’s youth face high unemployment due to few opportunities, SENDEA helps by offering solar training, toolkits for self-employment, and support through mentorship, internships, and business boot camps. Through solar technology training, SENDEA provides young people with the skills needed for the renewable energy sector. These programs improve their chances of securing jobs, starting businesses, and building essential soft skills, particularly for young women and youth in rural areas. SENDEA also offers support before and after graduation, including Business Bootcamps, Internship Placements, and Mentorship, helping graduates prepare for work or entrepreneurship. In addition, SENDEA supports renewable energy companies by matching trained alumni with job opportunities, bridging the gap between skilled workers and employers through recruitment and HR services.

Entrepreneurship & Capacity Building for SMEs
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Uganda face many challenges, yet they play a key role in economic growth and job creation. SENDEA’s personalized business development support, capacity building, and financing solutions are designed to help them move beyond the ‘start-up stage.’ We are committed to helping locally owned solar SMEs innovate and scale by providing the tools and support they need for success. Capacity building for Technical and Vocational Education Training Institutes (TVETs)
SENDEA works with faith-based, private, and government vocational training institutes across Uganda to provide both technical and non-technical training aligned with the national curriculum. We actively contribute to curriculum development, ensuring that TVETs update their training programs to stay current with the rapidly evolving renewable energy technologies, such as e-mobility and productive use of energy (PUE). SENDEA also offers Training of Trainers (ToT) programs to transform trainers into skilled experts who can deliver high-quality education. We ensure participants are certified through the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT). To support the growth of TVETs, we conduct needs assessments and secure funding for solar lab equipment. So far, we've assessed 10 TVETs, and with support from Stiftung SolarEnergie GmbH, Kaliro VTI and St. Joseph’s Kamuli now have fully equipped solar labs

Clean Energy Access & Climate Change
SENDEA supports local solar SMEs, provides training, and raises awareness to promote sustainable energy use and fight climate change

Recruitment (HR Consulting)
SENDEA supports the solar energy sector in Uganda by addressing recruitment challenges through its HR management services. With a regional database of trained and certified technicians from the SENDEA Alumni network, SENDEA connects skilled technicians to Energy Service Providers (ESPs) across Uganda. This approach lowers operational and maintenance costs, ensures efficient service delivery, and provides employment opportunities. By addressing recruitment challenges, SENDEA promotes sector growth and strengthens trust in renewable energy solutions.

Social Work: Together, We Can Achieve More
Creating equal opportunities and building a sustainable future through education and skill development, SENDEA is fully committed to this mission. We sponsor female technicians, including diplomas and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and renewable energy, to further their studies.
While many TVET centers lack well-equipped solar labs, progress is being made. So far, we’ve assessed 10 TVETs and successfully set up a solar lab at Kaliro Technical Institute in 2024. This is your moment to create real change and leave a lasting mark on the community. Sponsor a student, donate to fund a training, or support a TVET in acquiring solar lab equipment.
